#1: WHAT IS YOUR SMUDGING EXPERIENCE LEVEL?
First, you’ll have the opportunity to tell us how long you have been smudging. Perhaps this will be your first experience with smudging or you’ve been doing it for a long time! Either way is fine, as we have lots of experience helping people of all backgrounds practice successful smudging! Let us know where you’re at in your personal journey and we will go from there!
#2: WHICH MEDICINES DO YOU WANT TO SMUDGE WITH?
Each medicine has different smudging benefits and goes best with certain types of smudging rituals. If you’re not sure which medicine is right for you, you can check out some of our other videos about each of the sacred medicines or download our full smudging guide on the Tribal Trade Co website. If you already know which medicine is your preference, select it from the list! Choose “Other” if you’re not sure or don’t see your sacred medicine listed here.
#3: HOW OFTEN DO YOU SMUDGE OR INTEND TO SMUDGE?
If you haven’t started smudging yet, how often would you like to? If you already regularly smudge, roughly how often do you practice smudging? How often you smudge can help us understand what kind of results you are looking for when you smudge and how big of a role it plays in your day-to-day life.
#4 WHO WILL BE PRESENT DURING YOUR SMUDGE?
There are different types of prayers for different types of smudging rituals, including whether the ritual will be practiced alone, with a few other people, or as part of a group gathering or ceremony. Who will be present determines what kind of prayer you should say, so let us know who you plan to enjoy this particular smudge with!
#5 HOW LONG DO YOU WANT YOUR SMUDGE PRAYER TO BE?
This is part of the personalization! The length is completely up to you. Tell us whether you prefer a short and sweet prayer -- or if you prefer a longer, more in-depth prayer. Think about your schedule or routine and which version might fit better into your smudging plan. If you’re smudging every day, short and sweet might be a great part of your routine. If you’re looking to really sit with your smudge and do some deep reflection and healing, you might prefer a longer prayer.
#6: WHAT DO YOU WANT OUT OF YOUR SMUDGE?
There are many different reasons to smudge. What is yours? From cleansing negative energy to healing from pain or trauma, there are many ways that smudging can help us and energy in our space feel better. Smudging is all about intention and a specialized prayer can help you guide that intention and have a more successful smudge. If you choose that you are trying to cleanse negative energy, we will also ask you what the negative energy is from so that we can further personalize your prayer!

Some people smudge to clear negative energy and feel more focused, while others use it as a healing exercise. There are different types of prayers for each type of smudging which can help you accomplish either goal.
